Do you remember hurricane Helene?
So do we!

In late September of 2024 Hurricane Helene hit our N.C. mountain communities bringing great devastation.  Most of our families know personally someone who has been impacted by this storm. We could have never imagined so much devastation in our on back door. As many of us responded to the needs of our friends and communities, the needs overwhelmed us. The Passion to respond and help those in need has been reignited in the hearts of people all around us.  All of us would like to be able to do more to help when events like this take place. We feel blessed that God has sent us "The Bus" and a vision for how to use it. 

  "The Bus" was a generous donation made to the Encounter Church family at the end of 2024. Throughout the first part of 2025 plans have been made to turn this bus into a Disaster Relief Vehicle.  Plans have been drawn with a vision to have a full kitchen with the potential of feeding hundreds of people at a time. Our vision includes a pull behind trailer that we plan to remodel into showers and a stackable washer and dryer. When devastation hits an area, these basic needs are crucial to restoring hope. 

We can't do this without your help! We know God has a plan and a purpose for this bus and we can't wait to see how things take shape. We have a vision for partnership with other local churches and ministries and we hope to see "The Bus" be a Kingdom vehicle that not only responds to disaster, but also helps to serve the needs of local our local communities. On November 10th, 2025 Encounter Church will be meeting downtown in the parking lot between The Elks, and the Hickory Lowes Park. Meals will be Pre Ordered and Pre Purchased, and then picked up at the event. Meals will include a chicken dinner with a baked potato, corn on the cob, and macaroni and cheese. Meals can be purchased for $20 with proceeds going to the bus. Meals can also be purchased for $15 for a Veterans and will then be given to the Veterans the following day on Veterans Day. Live worship and encouragement will be provided throughout the event. We look forward to meeting you and again, we thank you for your support!
